Description
Individual Kit, includes two yokes with threaded rod assemblies, 2 horseshoes, shaft spacers and collets to fit 1 1/4″ Shaft x 1-1/2″ bearing o.d. Everything needed to remove the old and install the new strut bearing. Common bearing names are BIND (Duramax Marine) and CHOGSET (Morse Rubber).
Be extra careful with this bearing installation. This bearing happens to have the thinnest bearing shell of all bearings. The difference between a 1-1/4” shaft and 1-1/2” bearing only allows a 1/16” bearing shell and 1/16″ rubber. These bearing shells can be prone to bending during installation if not careful. Try to keep the pressure as equal as possible when pressing the bearing into the strut.
With this bearing we advise you to warm the strut prior to installation. Also chill the bearing by placing it inside a freezer or bucket of ice a few hours before installation. Apply some dish soap to the bearing and inside the strut where possible. We have hundreds of this model in use and if you prepare it should go fine.
