Collets- Standard Length Power and Sailboats
$56.93 – $126.50
Collets are applied to the prop shaft, they are the parts that contact the bearing face and push the bearing through the strut. Our collets are laser cut from DOM tubing and are designed to be stacked on the shaft as necessary to achieve the correct shaft/ bearing fit.
For example: If you have a 1-1/4″ shaft and a 1-3/4″ bearing you’ll need two sets of collets-
1-1/2″ X1-1/4″ and 1-3/4″ X1-1/2″
This way you’ve got the smaller collet resting on the shaft and the larger collet stacked on top of the smaller collet which gives you a 1-3/4″ outside dimension and a 1-1/4″ inside dimension. Our collets are cut 1/4″ longer than your bearing. Occasionally we run into struts that are longer than the bearing, sometimes there is an inch or so of the bearing still inside the strut when the collets are fully inserted, usually a pair of channel locks or a pipe wrench and a twist will be sufficient to finish the extraction. If your strut is several inches longer than your bearing you may need to purchase an additional set of collets to push the bearing all the way through the strut.
