We’ve got thousands of our tools stowed under seat cushions for good reason- replacing your Cutless Bearings without removing the prop shaft is a no-brainer. Dropping your rudder and pulling your prop shaft can be a nightmare, and that’s only the beginning… Cutting out a bearing with a hacksaw blade or sawzall is definitely easier said than done- not to mention, a bit sketchy! How about reinstalling the bearing once you’ve cut the old one out? Are you going to pound it into the strut with a hammer potentially damaging your bearing? Potentially damaging your hull?
We’ve also heard stories of people buying a new strut with bearings pre-installed instead of just replacing the bearings- sounds like a good plan until you see the laser equipment the manufacturers use to make sure they’ve got the strut installed correctly. Shaft/strut misalignment is the number one cause of bearing failure.
Don’t believe the Brochanics- using our tools makes the whole process fast, easy, affordable, and damage free!
Pro tip: Buy an extra bearing or two and stow your tool and bearings on the boat so your weekend or vacation wont be ruined when you suck up some grass, rope, or fishing line, and burn up a bearing. Just haul your boat out of the water and replace your own bearings in as little as a half hour!
